Cmt : News : Dustin Lynch Takes A Beer To The Face

Star Wars-themed beer is no match for this fully operational legal team - Yahoo News

That's likely what Dustin Lynch is wondering after a fan at his recent concert in Niceville, Florida, got a little carried away and did just that. Lynch was smacked square in the kisser and posted the bloody aftermath to Twitter. On this week's episode of CMT Hot 20 Countdown , he explains what happened -- with help from some amateur video of the incident. Meanwhile, hosts Cody Alan and Katie Cook catch up with Little Big Town , who have a brand-new album called Pain Killer that might inspire some unexpected "Day Drinking." "Those Southern Baptists came off of that back row and had them a beer," joked the group's Kimberly Schlapman. Chase Rice takes to the skies for what might be country music's first documented drone mission, Jana Kramer tries her luck at celebrity corn hole and Kristian Bush takes fans behind the scenes of his fight against the zombie apocalypse in his new video for "Trailer Hitch." Catch it all and find out which music video tops this week's list on CMT Hot 20 Countdown on Saturday and Sunday (Oct. 25-26) at 11 a.m. ET/PT. NEW YORK (CNNMoney) A small upstate New York brewery may soon feel the full force of the "Star Wars" legal department. Lucasfilm is attempting to block a trademark on one of Empire Brewery Co. 's, signature beers, "Strikes Bock." The bock beer's title when combined with the bar's namesake makes for a pun on the 1980 "Star Wars" sequel (or fifth film in the series, depending on who you ask) "Empire Strikes Back." "We named it 'Strikes Bock' because we thought it was a clever pun," said Monica Palmer, Empire's director of marketing. "We weren't trying to infringe on anything. We were just trying to make a nice beer with a funny name." Lucasfilm filed its "notice of opposition" against Empire Brewery, a brewpub located in Syracuse New York when it tried to trademark the beer recently. Strikes Bock by Empire -- as the brewpub calls it -- has actually been around for seven years. Most stock quote data provided by BATS. As the cost of operating the Stepping Stone Shelter continues to grow every year, the money raised from the fundraiser helps to close the gap between grants and expenses. Beer and Wine Fest raises funds for Stepping Stone Shelter - TheNewsDispatch.com: News

Beer and Wine Fest (AP) -- Riots that erupted after West Virginia University's win over Baylor are costing the city of Morgantown more than $45,000. In a news release late Friday, officials said the expenses include the cost of repairing damage to street lights and light posts, as well as replacing street and traffic signs removed by rioters. Authorities say crowds pushed over street lights and threw rocks, beer bottles and other items at public safety personnel and their vehicles. Numerous fires also were set. More than a dozen people are facing charges from the disturbances following last Saturday's football game. Fire officials reported costs for damaged items and overtime but didn't include more than $2,600 needed to repair several vehicles. Authorities also are ordering helmets, gas masks and other supplies needed to improve crowd control. Society & Culture

WestportNow.com - Westport, Connecticut's 24-hours News and Information Source

Lucasfilm is taking a brewpub to court over the name of a beer in order to protect it's line of Star Wars themed wines, reports the Post-Standard . The brewmasters at Empire Brewing Co. in Syracuse, New York conceived of a bock beer, a dark brew commonly served in the fall, that had an "extremely clean and refreshing" hoppy character. They named it Empire Strikes Bock. In the course of their expansion, Empire went to trademark the name. That's when they drew the attention of the all-seeing eye of Lucasfilm's legal team, which filed a notice in opposition to that trademark. It's worth noting that Lucasfilm isn't asking Empire to stop selling the beer, or even to change the name of it. They just don't want them to own a trademark for the name. Lucasfilm, and its parent company Disney, is inclined to protect its trademarks and as such the formal complaint reads in just about the same way that all other trademark notices read. That is, until you get to the part about the Lucasfilm vineyard. "Skywalker Ranch isn't just a place to work," reads the jobs page at Lucasfilm.com . "It's a world all its own. Employees can visit the produce stand to purchase organic vegetables. Jams, olive oil and wine are produced right here in the fields and vineyards." Lucasfilm contends that selling revelers in New York state drinks inspired by a galaxy far, far away would impose upon their right to do the same in California. Therefore, the Empire Brewing Co. could cause legitimate confusion with consumers aged 21 and over. David Katleski, owner of the Empire, said he'll fight the trademark dispute in court, but he's just not sure how long he can hold out before Lucasfilm's lawyers drop out of orbit. "It's kind of a 'big dog against small dog' thing,'' Katleski said. "We've had this beer for seven years, and we [sought a trademark] because we don't want to infringe on any other beers or anyone else's trademarks." Edit: The original version of this article stated George Lucas was taking Empire to court. That's clearly not correct. Lucasfilm is. More from polygon.com:
